Managing your website’s category structure is crucial for a seamless browsing experience. With Storeshop, you can create and organize both main categories and subcategories. Easily reorder them using drag-and-drop functionality, and build multi-level hierarchies for better navigation.
Step 1: Log in to the Storeshop dashboard → Go to Products → Category Structure
Here, you’ll see the categories that are visible on your website.
Step 2: Adding new categories
To add a new category, click on Search for a main category. This allows you to search through the categories you’ve already created.
If you’d like to create a completely new category, click on Create New Category.
Step 3: Reordering categories
Once you’ve added your categories, you can change their order by simply dragging them into the desired position. This is known as drag-and-drop.
Step 4: Adding subcategories
To add subcategories, click on the + icon next to the category where you want to add a subcategory. You can create a hierarchy of categories by adding subcategories as needed.
Step 5: Editing categories
Click on the eye icon to view and edit a category. If you wish to remove a category from being visible on the website, click on the X icon next to that category.
Step 6: Saving your changes
Make sure to click Save at the top of the page to save your changes.
Important to note:
You can only assign products to the “final” category in your hierarchy. For example, if you have a main category called Mineral Water and a subcategory called Soda, the products should be assigned to Soda—not Mineral Water. If you place them in Mineral Water, they won’t appear on the website.
